Sergey Sulyn
Was born at 1959 in Kishinev, the capital of the Republic of Moldova. He finished Republican High Artistic School and faculty of architecture of the Polytechnic Institute. In 1987 he took part of Chernobyl consequences liquidation. Now he is teaching of drawing, painting and sculpture at the State Art School by A. Stircha. He experiments enthusiastically with painting, drawing and sculpture.
Since 1988 he is taking active part of exhibitions. His artworks were exhibited at many personal (14) and common (60) exhibitions of painting and drawing in Moldova, Russia and Romania, are presented in state museums, art galleries and private collections of USA, Israel, Turkey, Japan, Germany and Holland.
Sergey Sulyn is poetic and delicate in selection of the plots. Often he uses in his artworks imagery, based on the associations, is close to metaphors and symbols. The artist uses un-traditional technics, he extracts aesthetic effects from unusual contacts of materials, and creates his own individual world of images, that no one could repeat again.
Sergey Sulyn is the member of the Union of Painters of Moldova (from 1995).
1. “ The Chernobyl Reporting” – 1988, drawings, 13 sheets. Series was created as a result of staying at the place of atomic catastrophe. Is keeping in the National museum of History of Moldova.
2. “The Silvery Series” – religious-philosophical paintings. It is the attempt of Bible comprehension. Linen, mixed technic, 750 mm x 750 mm.
3. “The Golden Dreams of the Earth” – series, evoked by myths and legends of planet’s peoples. It is calling to show peculiarly, value and unique of each people for all nations, fragility of being in modern world, necessity of gentle conservation and security of culture for civilization. Linen, mixed technic, 750x750 mm.
4. Landscapes and still lives (oil). Artist derives the plots for his pictures from trips through Moldova, Russia, Ukraine.
5. More than 100 artworks were included in books of poems and drawings, created with poet and wife Olesya Rudeygina ( the member of the Union of writers of Moldova). “The Duet at the Underground” – 1998, “Year of the Dragon” – 2000.
6. “Pushkin series” (1988-1999).
- Sculpture portrait of A. Pushkin. Is keeping in house-museum by poet in Kishinev.
- The original drawings sheets with illustrations to “Small tragedies” and “Boris Godunov”.
- The series of paintings and drawings, dedicated to Pushkin stay in Moldova.
7. At 2002 artist won the second place of the Republican competition for the best project of the memorial for Chernobyl catastrophe victims.
